What you need to collect Hippo-HABITAT data underwater
To contribute to Hippo-HABITAT, you need an UW camera, an UW slate to write on, and the downloadable Hippo-HABITAT field sheets (see below).
An UW digital camera
If possible equipped with a zoom allowing taking close pictures of the specimen and wider photos of its environment.
An UW slate
The best is a small slate (14 x 18 cm for instance) always ready in your BCD pocket.
Our field sheets to help UW observation (to be printed and hot laminated)
Size estimation sheet: seahorse and pipefish figures of several sizes to help visually estimate their length without disturbing the animal. Download the PDF file.
Protocol memory-aid sheet: all the needed information to make sure you don’t forget anything at the moment of your observation. Download the PDF file.
